Nov.17: China Implements Transit visa-free policy to Norway

Since November 17, 2023, China has implemented a 72/144-hour transit visa-free policy for Norwegian citizens. So far, the scope of application of China's 72/144-hour visa-free transit policy has increased to 54 countries, listed as follows:

European Countries (40)

Austria, Belgium, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden,  Croatia, Switzerland, Norway, Russia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Monaco, Belarus, and Norway .

American Countries (6)

The United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and the Republic of Chile.

Oceania Countries (2):

Australia and New Zealand.

Asian Countries (6):

South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.

At present, three cities in China, including Changsha, Harbin and Guilin, have implemented a 72-hour transit visa-free policy, and 20 cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jieyang, Shenyang, Dalian, Qingdao, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi’an, Xiamen, Wuhan and Kunming 144-hour transit visa-free policy.

Citizens of 54 countries can travel through the above-mentioned cities (regions) with
valid international travel documents and connecting tickets with dates and seats within a limited time. They can stay in the specified area for no more than 72 hours or 144 hours without a visa. During their stay, they can engage in short-term activities such as tourism and temporary business visits.

According to the relevant person in charge of the National Immigration Administration, the implementation of the transit visa-free policy is a practical measure to ensure the country‘s high-level opening to the outside world, facilitate the exchange of Chinese and foreign personnel, and promote foreign exchanges and cooperation.

Since China implemented the 72/144-hour transit visa-free policy in January 2013, more than 500,000 people have Chinese people enjoy the convenience of this policy.

In the next step, the National Immigration Administration will continue to focus on the new situation and requirements of China’s high-level opening up to the outside world, actively benchmark international high-level economic and trade rules, constantly deepen the reform and innovation of immigration policies, actively respond to the new expectations and new needs of Chinese and foreign arrivals and international economic and trade exchanges, promote economic globalization, and help me China‘s open development, innovative development and high-quality development.
