China Relaxes Visa Policy for Foreigners in HongKong&Macao

Notice on Visa Facilitation  For Non-Chinese Hong Kong Residents

In order to further facilitate personnel exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland, support Hong Kong’s integration into the overall development of the country, the Office of the Commissioner has started

1. providing visa facilitation for Non-Chinese Hong Kong permanent residents and Non-Chinese Hong Kong residents who are traveling to the mainland for business, tourism and family-visiting purposes.

2.Eligible applicants can apply for multiple-entry visas valid for up to 5 years and 2 years, respectively. 

It should be noted that:

1. visa officers might adjust validity or entry numbers of the above mentioned visas based on different circumstances of individual cases, and might ask for supplementary documents or interviews. Hence, applicants are not guaranteed to obtain visas with longest validity.

2. In addition, for those who apply the agreements signed between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of foreign countries in terms of mutually issuing multiple-entry visas with long-term validity, relevant arrangements remain the same.

Notice on Visa Policy for Further Facilitating Foreigners in Macao to Travel to the Mainland

In order to facilitate the exchange of personnel between China and foreign countries, the Commissioner's Office has recently implemented simplified visa application forms and walk-in visa applications in accordance with the unified arrangements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On this basis, the Office will further optimize the visa policy to provide more convenience for eligible foreigners in Macao to apply for mainland visas for business, tourism, family visits and other purposes. The specific arrangements are as follows:

1. Foreign permanent residents of Macao can apply for multiple visas valid for up to 5 years.

2. Foreign non-permanent residents of Macao can apply for multiple visas valid for up to 2 years.

3. Foreign professional employees can apply for multiple visas valid for up to 1 year.

4. Foreign non-professional employees and domestic helpers can apply for multiple visas valid for up to 6 months.
